
Voices of Birralee is delighted to present The Queensland in Song Concert Series as our tribute to all things Queensland.
Queensland In Song Concert 1
1.30pm Sunday 5 June 2022, The Old Museum
Join Voices of Birralee’s signature choirs, Resonance of Birralee, Birralee Blokes and Brisbane Birralee Voices, as they present Queensland in Song on Sunday 5 June in the Old Museum’s Concert Hall. In this historic Queensland venue the concert will celebrate Queensland and represent it's sounds, people and places. The works of many Queensland composers will be featured including pieces by Joseph Twist, Astrid Jorgensen, Peter Ingram, Will Brown, Jo Davie and Powderfinger. A new work commissioned from Charulatha Mani that incorporates Indian Carnatic music in a work inspired by the Brisbane River will also be premiered.

Queensland In Song Concert 2
7:30pm Friday 10 June 2022, Edmund Rice Performing Arts Centre, St Laurence’s College
As part of our Queensland Day tribute, Voices of Birralee will host a combined schools celebration to reflect on all things Queensland. The Birralee Singers will be joined by choirs from:
· Ascot State School
· Eagle Junction State School
· Genesis Christian College
· Indooroopilly State School
· St Laurence’s College
· The Gap State School
· Wilston State School
New music by two emerging Queensland composers, Ally Dunk and Abigail Lui, will be showcased as well as works from composers who write superbly for young voices like Katherine Ruhle, Tim Sherlock and Stuart Gillard. It will be a wonderful evening of uplifting music for all the family to enjoy! The rousing massed finale of over 300 young performers will be a special memory for performers and audience alike.
