Birralee Recycled is the give-it-a-go adult community choir project open to adults 18+. The project brings together people of varied experience and musical ability in an encouraging and sociable environment. No particular skills are required to join just a willingness to dive in. Music is provided as are practice tracks to help you learn your part.
Birralee Recycled runs for approx 7 weeks per year. If you have any questions, please send an email to admin@birralee.org
As a busy working mum, having something like Birralee in my life is so important to be able to have something I love, just for me. I appreciate that it's only a season as committing to a weekly rehearsal for an entire year would be too much in my busy world. I always look forward to my time in the choir and am so grateful that Birralee has provided this opportunity to warm the heart and recharge the soul with music and friendship.

As an adult, new experiences have to get past the inner voice that says "I'm not going to be any good at this, do I have time, and will I look foolish". We're very good at finding excuses not to tackle anything new.
Peter Ingram and Voices of Birralee quickly found a way past the barriers by being simultaneously supportive, fun and artistically demanding. Attending the Hobart Festival of Voices was a challenge on many levels- learning words and harmonies, trying to coax a musical sound out of rusty vocal chords, and sharing experiences with a group of people other than one's regular friends and family.
For me, the experience was immeasurably richer as a result of tackling the challenges. And the final result was fun, satisfying and I came away with a new group of lovely friends. What a great experience- thank you Peter!
