Queensland Symphony Orchestra Opera Gala

Opera Gala
Resonance of Birralee were thrilled to be the guest choir at the QSO Opera Gala on March 8 and March 9. Performing across the two concerts to two sold-out Lyric theatre audiences, Resonance of Birralee were highly regarded for their spectacular addition to the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.

If you love a little drama, this is the concert for you!

In our Opera Gala, you can experience all of the highlights of Puccini’s operas in one spectacular concert, under the baton of conductor Giordano Bellincampi. Madame Butterfly flutters with scandal; glitz and glamour abound in La Bohème; and Tosca, Puccini’s sensual melodrama, is a bloodstained tale of love among political intrigue. Featuring soprano Sae-Kyung Rim, tenor Kang Wang, and baritone Phillip Rhodes, you’ll be enthralled by the intimacy of Puccini’s arias, and the powerful forces of love, longing and drama that echo through each and every note. With a rich tapestry of orchestral accompaniment and the 80-strong Voices of Birralee supporting every moment, this is a breathtaking occasion not to be missed!

Be a Choir Kid for the Day!

Be a CHOIR KID for the Day! ( Website Banner)
We were thrilled to welcome over 25 new choir kids to come and sing with us during the Be a Choir Kid Week! Our Birralee Piccolos, Birralee Kids and Birralee Singers played music games and rehearsed new songs. We look forward to seeing some of these Choir Kids again in our regular Birralee rehearsals! If you missed the Choir Kid Week, contact us at any time to arrange a free trial - contact@birralee.org | 3367 1001.

Join Voices of Birralee Piccolos (Prep - Year 1), Birralee Kids (Years 2 - 4) or Birralee Singers (Years 5 - 7) and become a choir kid for a day!

This is an excellent chance to give singing with our training ensembles a go as they explore a range of music together.

Sing Low Workshop and Performance with David Squire

On Leap Day, 115 tenors and bases came together under the guidance of David Squire to workshop and perform a series of songs. We are incredibly grateful for the expertise of David, who created everything from great softness to sheer power amongst the group of tenors and bases.

Tenors and Basses, aged 12 - 25 are invited to Sing Low! with renowned New Zealand conductor and educator, David Squire. This will be a wonderful opportunity for tenors and basses to sing together repertoire chosen by David. The format will be an afternoon workshop followed by a sausage sizzle meal break. The evening will conclude with a short, informal concert with the Birralee Blokes and other school choirs and finish with the massed choir repertoire learnt in the afternoon.

Time: 4.30pm - 8:00pm (arrive from 4:15pm for 4:30pm start)
