Georgia 2In 2014, Voices of Birralee won a nation-wide bid with the Department of Veterans' Affairs to provide choral services to the WW1 commemorative events during the centenary period from 2015 – 2019.

This commitment began in April 2015 when Voices of Birralee sent its Anzac Commemoration Choir to the Western Front, France to perform at the Anzac Day Dawn Service at The Australian National Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux and at a later service at The Digger Memorial, Bullecourt.

In 2016, the commitment was marked by two trips; an ensemble performed on Anzac Day in Villers-Bretonneux and Bullecourt, France, while an ensemble, the Western Front Centenary Choir sang at commemorative events in VC Corner and Pheasant Wood, Fromelles and at the First Australian Division Memorial, Pozieres.

Our young choristers will continue to honour our Anzacs in these tours:

25 April 2015, Villers-Bretonneux, France
25 April 2016, Villers-Bretonneux, France
19-23 Jul 2016, Fromelles & Pozieres, France
25 April 2017, Villers-Bretonneux, France
26 Sept 2017, Polygon Woods, Belgium
25 April 2018, Villers-Bretonneux, France
4 July 2018, Le Hamel, France
11 Nov 2018, Villers-Bretonneux, France
25 April 2019, Villers-Bretonneux, France

As you can imagine, this opportunity is an incredible, once in a lifetime opportunity for our choristers to do what they love, sing, while paying tribute to the Australians and New Zealanders who fought for our country in WW1.

It is, however, a significant financial undertaking, which is a group fundraising effort across the tours! We invite members of the community to make a fully tax deductible contribution to this project. Donate here
