Terms and conditions

As Voices of Birralee celebrates 30 years of choral excellence, we are delighted to invite past members to be involved in a series of projects in the lead up to the 30th Anniversary concert on Sunday 17 August in the Concert Hall of QPAC.

         Project 1:
Sip and Sing
Sunday 20 July 2.30 - 5.00pm
Birralee HQ, 57 Carwoola St, Bardon

All past Birralee choristers are invited to come and have a drink and a sing on this afternoon. We will reminisce and sing some old favourites of Blokes, BBV and Resonance. We will also introduce the song that will be the finale of the August 17 concert. You can be involved on this day without doing any of the other projects.

         Project 2:
BBV Alumni joining with BBV for anniversary concert on 17 August
As the 30th anniversary marks not just the birthday of the organisation but also the birthday of BBV we have decided to celebrate BBV with an alumni component. Any treble voice alumni of BBV are invited to join with current BBV to sing two movements of Paul Jarman’s Magnetic Island Songs. You don’t have to have sung these in the past to be involved if you are willing to learn them. The two movements they are singing are Horseshoe Bay & Fish Cove.

You need to be available for the following rehearsal times:

Tuesday 29 July 6.30 – 7.30pm @ Brisbane Girls Grammar School
Friday 8 August 6.30 – 7.30pm @ Brisbane Girls Grammar School
Sunday 17 August @ QPAC dress rehearsal time TBA. Concert at 3.30pm

         Project 3:
Alumni join for massed finale of Anniversary Concert.
To conclude the concert on 17 August all of Birralee will perform If You Can Walk You Can Dance.
The idea is to surround the audience with sound and so members of Birralee Alumni, Birralee Recycled and some current members will sing from the aisles of the concert hall.

The song will be introduced at Sip and Sing so ideally you would be at that event.

Rehearsal: Friday 8 August 7.30 – 8.30pm Brisbane Girls Grammar School
Sunday 17 August @ QPAC dress rehearsal time TBA. Concert at 3.30pm.

Important Information:
* Alumni may select to be involved in as many of these projects as they wish as long as you are able to meet the commitments.

* While there is no cost to be involved in Sip & Sing you are required to purchase a ticket to the anniversary concert on 17 August if you are attending the concert in any capacity. Tickets can be purchased at the QPAC website: https://www.qpac.com.au/whats-on/2025/voices-of-birralee-30th-anniversary-celebration/

* we will provide scores and audio resources where possible to assist you with learning the repertoire.

We look forward to seeing you back for at least one of these projects. Spread the word.
