Brisbane Birralee Voices

Who are they?

This ensemble is made up of approximately 70 singers aged between 13 and 17 years (drawn from Grade 7-12). As well as attending weekly rehearsals, the members of this ensemble are committed to music studies and/or voice training. They also participate in a variety of wonderful performance opportunities, recordings and a touring program.

Brisbane Birralee Voices is acknowledged on home shores and abroad as one of Australia's finest children's choirs. The program encourages young singers to develop their vocal technique and attain musical excellence and there is a strong focus on nurturing the individual in a broader sense.

In addition to the excitement of achieving high artistic goals and the personal enrichment experienced by each member, there is an emphasis placed on the benefits of sharing their gift of music with others and the intrinsic value of music within society. This helps develop generosity of spirit, tolerance and acceptance of cultural diversity.

They meet the demands of their performance and touring schedule by having a strong commitment to regular attendance and by being willing to revise and learn in their own time. The ensemble performs at many events within south-east Queensland including civic, corporate, charity and community events. One of their favourite annual engagements is the Spirit of Christmas held at QPAC.

"Our guests were totally blown away by the children and our Exec Chair stood up and said how incredibly moved he was by them. He called me over to meet a client who said it was the best entertainment at a corporate event he had ever seen or heard....can't get much better than that!
George and Erica Gregan also loved it - was such a beautiful way to link in the GG Foundation and children - I can't thank you enough for bringing something very special to our night"
