Accompanist - Justine Favell
Brisbane Birralee Voices was formed in 1995 and is the foundation ensemble of the Birralee organisation. It is acknowledged on home shores and abroad as one of Australia's finest children's choirs. Such a reputation is gained and maintained through the work and dedication of the choristers and their Director, Julie Christiansen OAM.
The ensemble is made up of approximately 65 singers aged between 11 and 17 years. As well as attending a 90 minute weekly rehearsal, the members of this ensemble are committed to music studies and/or voice training.
Members of this ensemble benefit from a regular performance, recording and touring program. They meet the demands of their performance and touring schedule by having a strong commitment to regular attendance and by being willing to revise and learn in their own time. In addition to the excitement of achieving high artistic goals and the personal enrichment experienced by each member, there is also a strong emphasis placed on the benefits of sharing the gift of music with others and the intrinsic value of music within society.
The ensemble performs at many events within the Brisbane Community including: Australia Day Celebrations, Citizenship Ceremonies, Multi Faith Ceremonies, ANCA Secondary Schools Gala Events, Australian of the Year Awards, conference openings and others. They are also regular performers at events held at QPAC, The Old Museum, Brisbane Convention Centre, City Hall, Riverstage and South Bank as well as at various community functions around the city.
