Sounds of Birralee was formed in 2008, and is a choral ensemble that caters for 14-25 year olds. No youth community ensemble existed on the Gold Coast for this age group, and so this choir offers a wonderful opportunity for talented singers who are looking for a place to extend their experience.
The choir is creating a unique opportunity for Gold Coast young people to aspire to musical excellence in a joyful and creative environment. The program encourages performance skills, music education, personal integrity, and an appreciation for humanity and cultural diversity through music.
Sounds of Birralee have presented concerts on both the Gold Coast and Brisbane, recently making their debut with the Queensland Pops Orchestra in the Concert Hall at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre. Sounds of Birralee were also proud contributors to the recently released `Sleep and Dreams’ album.
A significant number of the Sounds of Birralee singers are Gold Coast Griffith University students, studying in medical areas. With the variety of professions represented in the choir, we feel confident, upon graduation, that we could establish an excellent Medical Practice.
