The Birralee Juniors are vibrant group of children who love to get together every Saturday afternoon to sing! Under the musical direction of Justine Favell, the Juniors enjoy a wide range of musical styles from traditional lullabies, music theatre, classical adaptions, folk and world music to light and humorous selections. They love the challenge of musicianship, singing in parts and learning to read their music.

The self esteem of each of the Juniors is nurtured as they are encouraged to present their songs as enthusiastically and confidently as they can.

They learn the disciplines of performing at high profile events such as Carols in the City on Riverstage, but at the same time enjoy a relaxed and joyful music making experience.

The Birralee Juniors are featured on all of the Birralee Voices CDs (with the exception of The Birralee Blokes' release) and the beautiful sound of their young voices brings a smile to all who hear them.

The Juniors perform at the two major Birralee concerts in June and November and at approximately 2-3 selected community or civic events annually. All members are encouraged to take part in the annual Solo Sing Out which gives an opportunity to sing a solo in a friendly non-competitive environment.

Performance highlights include singing for various functions during National Child Protection Week, Brave Hearts, Christmas Carols at a number of Brisbane churches and the Brisbane Festival.

The Juniors attend a one night sleepover camp each year which helps them get to know each other and enhances their music learning.

Auditions are held in October /November for the following year and where vacancies exist a second round may be held in January. At the discretion of the music director, applications for membership may be considered at other times throughout the year.
