Accompanist - Sarah McDonald
Are you aged between 11-14 years with a passion for singing?
In 2005 The Birralee Singers evolved when the need arose to create a more advanced division of the Junior Training Choir. Since then, The Birralee Singers have rapidly developed into an exciting and disciplined children's ensemble of its own renown. These singers aged from 11 – 14 years participate enthusiastically in local, regional and national events.
They sing a wide range of music styles and always have music from different parts of the world and in different languages in their repertoire.
The ensemble has participated in numerous choral festivals including Canberra's The Meeting Place Music festival, hosted by Woden Valley Youth Choir; Tasmania's Festival of Voices; the annual Brisbane Raise Your Voices Festival as well as many local events.
One of the highlights of the 2009 program was singing Paul Jarman’s newly commissioned work "Wildlife Warrior", a tribute to the late Steve Irwin at the Raise Your Voices Festival in Brisbane. Joining them at this 3 day event were choirs from all over Queensland, Brisbane and Canberra, with a 180 voice massed choir at each of two concerts for the festival.
